Rally in the Valley Results

It was a close vote - 93 to 90 but we are ready to crown a champion for 2008 in the battle of Classic vs. Contemporary music. Our audience has spoken and Havendance by David Holsinger narrowly defeated Gustav Holst's First Suite in Eb. And yes, we did conduct a recount to verify the results!

Please join us for our next concert on Tuesday, May 2oth in the Waitsburg High School Auditorium at 7:30pm for 'Terra Vida: Where Earth and Life Meet'. The Walla Walla Valley Concert Band will take you on a journey that begins in the depths of the ocean and ends soaring above ground.

Pride of the Valley

ImageThe Walla Walla Valley Bands were incorporated as a non-profit organization in 2006 after a re-branding effort designed to reflect the new mission and service of the band.  Formerly known as the Walla Walla Community Band, the organization originated in 1989 and for the past 18 years has proudly represented the area at events celebrating the community.  Most recently the band has been called upon to provide entertainment for the ArtTrain, National Christmas Tree's visit to Walla Walla and The Great Race.

Consisting of a full Concert Band and Jazz Ensemble as well as smaller Chamber Ensembles including Flute Trio and Clarinet Choir, the 60+ members are all volunteer and pay annual dues.  Overseeing operations is a 7-position board voted on by members at an annual meeting and Director Ron McHenry.

Currently the Walla Walla Valley Bands operate an August-to-July calendar with traditional concerts at the Walla Walla Community College Performing Arts Center in December, March and June and annually at the 4th of July Celebration in Pioneer Park.  The band is also called upon each year to provide music at Whitman College Commencement and Convocation.

ImageRecently the Walla Walla Valley Bands entered into a new partnership with Walla Walla Community College, providing students there with a strong large ensemble program which complements the already successful combo and small ensemble programs in place.  The organization is excited about this new partnership that provides the Bands with a permanent home in an oustanding facility which is nearly new and a brand new Performing Arts Center which opens Fall 2007.

Enjoy exploring our website!  During your journey you can explore past concert programs including video footage, find out about how the band started and its' achievements in addition to learning how to become a member yourself.
